Our symposia are back! Following successful events pre-COVID in the Gower and North Wales, we will be hosting in Cardiff for the first time – as face-to-face only. As always, we have a range of both clinical and non-clinical sessions relating to Acute and General medicine – this time delivered by our MDT family in Wales and beyond!

We’re pleased to confirm the dates for our educational meetings in 2023!
On Thursday 16th February 2023 we will be hosting an educational event at Sophia Gardens, Cardiff entitled “The ABCD of Acute Medicine”. The meeting is face-to-face only. It’s open to all, and Welsh AIM trainees will be able to attend for free. Check back here in a few weeks for more details and registration information.
Our Wales Acute Medicine training week for registrars will start this year on Monday 26th June at our usual South Wales venue, the King Arthur Hotel in Reynoldston on the Gower Peninsula. Our annual symposium will take place at the King Arthur on Thursday 29th June2023 and again, all are welcome – expect more details slightly nearer the time.
We hope you’ll be able to join us at one (or both!) of our events next year.
WAPS is pleased to announce the date for our 2022 webinar which will take place on the Thursday 14th July between 1230 and 1700. The full programme is still being finalised but further details and booking are now available via Eventbrite. We hope to see you there!
We’re pleased to announce that our 2021 annual symposium will take place in the afternoon of Thursday 1st July. Similar to last year, this will be an online event to support the annual training week for our Wales acute medicine registrars. 4 RCP CPD points have been applied for.

Mohamed Hassan (an acute physician from Prince Charles, Merthyr) is organising a conference on headaches in Cardiff on Friday 18th October. Headaches are his special interest and regardless of whether they might interest you personally or not, they’re certainly a common and important problem that we see a lot of in acute medicine!
We’ll provide an update when we get further details of the day.
If you’re interested in some slightly different CPD to usual you might want to consider the inherited metabolic disease study day in Cardiff next March. The morning programme is paediatric but the afternoon looks like it will have relevance to acute medicine. See this PDF for further details.
