Headache conference

Mohamed Hassan (an acute physician from Prince Charles, Merthyr) is organising a conference on headaches in Cardiff on Friday 18th October. Headaches are his special interest and regardless of whether they might interest you personally or not, they’re certainly a common and important problem that we see a lot of in acute medicine!

We’ll provide an update when we get further details of the day.

Symposium 2019: Tickets still available!

Tickets for our annual symposium on 20th June are selling well but we still have plenty of space available at the King Arthur. Why not join us for a day which will include:

  • External Speaker: Dr Chris Turner (Co-Founder of Civility Saves Lives) – How incivility robs teams of their potential
  • Value-based and Prudent Healthcare with Dr Sally Lewis (National Clinical Lead)
  • What’s hot in Rheumatology with Dr Julian Nash
  • Hot Heads in Neurology with Dr Charlotte Lawthom
  • What to do with a febrile Haematology patient with Dr Ali Mahdi
  • What you need to know about the new Internal Medicine Curriculum
  • What’s hot about Oncology? with Dr Ricky Frazer

All of the money raised from the symposium goes toward supporting acute medicine training in Wales. You can see further details and register here.

SAMontheTyne

Team Wales was a bit smaller than usual at the Society of Acute Medicine meeting in Gateshead last week but we still had an excellent time! Over 450 people attended making it the largest SAM spring meeting to date! We’re already looking forward to the next SAM conference in Harrogate on the 10th and 11th October 2019.

If you missed it, you should be able to find copies of the posters and presentations on the SAM website soon.
