Dr Melanie Nana has let us know that she’s organising a one-day obstetric medicine course at the Vale Resort on Monday 30th September 2024. Obstetric medicine is always a highly popular topic at acute medicine conferences so it’s great to have an opportunity to learn about it in Wales!

Headache conference October 2024
Dr Mohamed Hassan and BASH have teamed up again to organise a one-day conference on the subject of headache which will take place in Cardiff on Friday 18th October 2024.
The previous meeting that they arranged on this subject in 2019 was very well attended with excellent speakers and lots of relevant learning points for acute physicians. The delegate fee last time was also brilliant value!

2023 events
We’re pleased to confirm the dates for our educational meetings in 2023!
On Thursday 16th February 2023 we will be hosting an educational event at Sophia Gardens, Cardiff entitled “The ABCD of Acute Medicine”. The meeting is face-to-face only. It’s open to all, and Welsh AIM trainees will be able to attend for free. Check back here in a few weeks for more details and registration information.
Our Wales Acute Medicine training week for registrars will start this year on Monday 26th June at our usual South Wales venue, the King Arthur Hotel in Reynoldston on the Gower Peninsula. Our annual symposium will take place at the King Arthur on Thursday 29th June 2023 and again, all are welcome – expect more details slightly nearer the time.
We hope you’ll be able to join us at one (or both!) of our events next year.

Headache conference
Mohamed Hassan (an acute physician from Prince Charles, Merthyr) is organising a conference on headaches in Cardiff on Friday 18th October. Headaches are his special interest and regardless of whether they might interest you personally or not, they’re certainly a common and important problem that we see a lot of in acute medicine!
We’ll provide an update when we get further details of the day.
